The Artesian Belt Railroad

The Artesian Belt Railroad was one of the smaller railroads in South Texas. It was built in 1909 by Charles Simmons, a land developer. Later it became the San Antonio Southern. The Missouri Pacific acquired the line, and then abandoned the remains in 1965.

Read all about it in the story from the Autumn 1998 Southwest Railroad Historical Society's "Clearance Card", Charles Simmons and the Artesian Belt Railroad.
